Dutch Boy, Wisdom Teeth and Life

May arrived, and the forsythia are blooming.

The Grands are settling into their summer routines.  Totally Jammin' is working for GVSU, moving furniture into and out of dormitories, etc.  He had his wisdom teeth removed last Friday, and by Saturday looked none the worse for wear.  He returned to work on Monday and seems to be doing fine, no post surgical problems.
He and his Mom stopped in for a visit on Sunday -- other than the soft food diet, he seems to have recovered in record time.

The girl still has one class that she needs to take this summer before she's officially a college grad, and in the meantime she's working at Dutch Village and Windmill Island for the summer.  It's Tulip Time week, so it's been brutal -- 12 hour days with almost no breaks -- but she's hanging in there hoping for a better schedule after Tulip Time.  They promised to be flexible during her summer semester beginning at the end of June, and in the meantime, she's earning some money and should have time to do some job searching once things lighten up.  Retail sales and park tours.

Here she is listening to her Grandfather's story about the time he worked 14 twelve hour days in a row during the flood of 1965, putting mail bags into box cars at the Minneapolis depot.  Since we're closer to her job, and she's been working long hours, she's been hanging out with us between shifts.  She's pretty quiet, and brings us Dutch chocolate as a thank you for the lodging.  I've done a little bit of biking, but new challenges here have made that a lesser priority.  The new bike is accumulating some miles, and its odometer has recorded 451 miles so far.  I'm not getting in as much time on the bike as I'd like, but I still manage a few rides most weeks. Plan B is beginning to look more and more likely, by the way.
